Spring

Nutrients of Fruits and Vegetables
These are a source of essential nutrients such as:

  • Potassium - maintain healthy blood pressure
  • Dietary fiber - reduce blood cholesterol levels, may lower risk of heart disease, reduce constipation

*whole or cut-up fruits are good sources of dietary fiber, fruit juices contain little to no fiber.

  • Vitamin A - keeps eyes and skin healthy, helps to protect against infections 
  • Vitamin C - helps heal cuts and wounds, keeps teeth and gums healthy 
  • Folate - helps body form red blood cells. This is important especially for pregnant women to reduce the risk of birth defects. 
  • naturally low in fat, sodium, and calories
